The mirror does not lie!
I wanted to address the love affair with the bathroom scale and how focusing on a “number” is not a winning formula for you. Sure, I agree in principal the scale is a good indicator of meeting a short term target number however it should not be an often used tool. It does not tell you the most important factor of body composition or the amount and distribution of fat and lean mass on your body. This is why I like to say “the mirror does not lie”. Someone with a lot of muscle may look thinner than someone with a higher fat composition even if they both weigh the same amount. Please read that last sentence again!
This is because muscle weighs more than fat and as you add muscle and lose fat it is most likely in some cases you will end up weighing more than your target scale weight. Don’t allow a scale to dictate how you feel about yourself. You need to focus on how your body feels and looks. Personally, I weigh 160 lbs soaking wet however people consistently guess I am 180 lbs. This is no coincidence since I have very little fat and the muscle is in the right places which gives the perception my “body weight” is much heavier than reality.
